How to get out of "Outlook Lite" in Live@edu
Team,
I took a call this afternoon from a student who couldn't figure out why her Live@edu account would only show up in Outlook Live Lite. She tried different browsers, different computers, etc., and nothing seemed to be solving the problem.
Chris suggested that she might have selected the "Blind and low vision experience" option during setup. I found the following instructions to undo the low vision experience option, walked the user through them, and it worked! Just thought I'd share.
1. Click Options (top right).
2. Click Accessibility (left menu).
3. Turn off "Use the blind and low vision experience" option.
4. Click Save.
5. Log off Outlook Web Access.
6. Log back on to Outlook Web Access. It should now be the full version.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks!
Katie Vaughan

New Juniper VPN client for 64-bit
University Technology Services has installed a new VPN concentrator, replacing the Cisco IPSec VPN with a Juniper SSL VPN device. Therefore, the instructions for VPN access into the USC network have changed.
Bring up a browser and go to the following site:
https://sslvpn.sc.edu/facstaff/
If you get a page reporting a Certificate Error, simply continue to the website anyway.
Once you connect to the website, you will get a login screen. At this point enter your USC network ID and password (as found in VIP).
Once logged in, the Juniper device automatically will begin installing the VPN client on your computer. This may take several minutes. After the initial login and client download, the client will remain on your computer, so future logins will take less time.
Once the installation of the client is complete, your VPN tunnel into the USC network is established. This is represented by a lock symbol icon on your toolbar.
When you are through using the VPN, simply click the Sign Out button at the top of the Juniper page or right-click on the lock icon on the toolbar and select Exit. On all successive VPN logins, simply return to the website listed above and log in.

Connecting the Wii to a Netflix Account
The student needs a LAN adapter in order to connect to internet (a wired connection is necessary for bandwidth requirements). They then will need to load their "Netflix instant streaming disc," which they have to request from Netflix.
The following is from http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/netflix/index.jsp#activate
- How do I order my Netflix instant streaming disc?
You can request a Netflix instant streaming disc for Wii from your Netflix account at http://www.netflix.com/wii. If you're not already signed into your Netflix account, sign in on that page. Netflix will have your request.Don't have a Netflix account? Visit www.netflix.com to sign up!
- How do I activate my Wii console for Netflix?
- Once you have your Netflix instant streaming disc, insert it into your Wii console.
- Select the disc from the Disc Channel on the Wii.
- You will be presented with a code; remain on this screen during the activation process.
- Using a computer, go to http://www.netflix.com/wii. (You will need to be logged into your Netflix account.)
- On the computer, enter the code displayed on your television by your Wii console into the box on the Web page, then click "Activate."
- After you click "Activate," Netflix will attempt to activate your Wii console. This may take several minutes. When the process is complete, the Wii will automatically display your instant queue. (The screen on your computer may never change; wait for the screen displayed by the Wii on your TV to indicate when the activation is finished.)
Important! You will need to be logged into your Netflix account on a computer during this process.
For more detailed steps, please click here.
- How do I watch Netflix movies with my Wii console?
Netflix movies can only be viewed by inserting the Netflix instant streaming disc and selecting the Disc Channel from the Wii menu (after you have activated your Wii console - how to). Movies and TV episodes are then available through your instant queue, or from a selection from various genres. Please note the following:- Netflix movies cannot be viewed through the Internet Channel. They can only be viewed by inserting the Netflix instant streaming disc and selecting it from the Disc Channel on the Wii menu.
- The Wii console does not play DVD movie discs. Only the available Netflix "instant streaming" movies and TV episodes can be played on the Wii console.
For information on managing your instant queue, please visit www.netflix.com. For step-by-step instructions on watching Netflix via your Wii console, click here.

Problems Downloading Trend Micro OfficeScan from VIP
I attempted the download from IE and it was successful.
She had been prompted by another tech to download AVG free edition, but as this download is technically hosted on cnet.com (here: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button), she was getting blocked and re-routed to the sc.edu website by SafeConnect.
I tried to grant her temporary Open Access but this failed (she continued to get the re-direct even after opening a new browser session). I also tried to grant a temporary "Guest Pass" in SafeConnect, but when doing this the user gets a new authentication screen, and for this, AD credentials do not work---I have tested it.
Finally the "lightbulb" went off, and I had her connect to the AT&T wifi network. She opened a new browser session, and I directed her to Roaming on their splash page, and then had her select "USC." She was then able to login using her USC network username and password. I guided her to the aforementioned cnet link and she was able to download AVG Free successfully.
After the call I did some testing with Internet Explorer. It looks like the problem with the Trend Download was actually due to stringent Privacy Settings. The download was successful only after changing the setting to Medium (medium-high, high and "block all cookies" will not allow it). Furthermore, the problem is not with the file type (.exe), for the VPN client downloaded fine within a "high" privacy setting in IE. To change this setting go to Tools and then click on "Internet Options." Here's what it looks like:
